The lowdown

The regular summer season is now complete and we’re all set for a week of grand finals!

Player of the weekTertius Bester

Our player of the week award goes to Tertius Bester from our Melbourne West Tennis League. Tertius played 2 brilliant matches, winning them both and taking top spot in his league by the smallest of margins.

First up Tertius beat Angus 6-2, 6-1, he then followed this up with a colossal victory coming vs An, 6-3. 3-6, 6-1. Securing top spot in his division and a grand final place with his final victory. Great tennis Tertius!

“What a match Tertius gave me – 2 hours + on court and 7 match points needed to end it! Well played, and looking forward to getting together for some more tennis in the future.”

Saurav ChatterjeeMatch of the week

Our match of the week this week goes to 2 players who have fought some great tennis across the season, but saved the best for last. Alec Peters taking on Saurav Chatterjee in division 3 of our Sydney Inner West Tennis League.

Saurav came out on top in the final week of the season, winning 6-1, 6-7, 6-3. The victory secured a grand final spot for Saurav who will take on Peter Giokaris for the chance to be crowned the champ.

Well played Saurav, and good luck in the final!

Grand final matches

Good luck to everyone who has qualified to play in a grand final. May the best player win and don’t forget to enjoy it πŸ™‚

Friendly matches

Just because the regular summer season is all wrapped up, this doesn’t mean you can’t get on the court. Feel free to contact other players from your player directory to organise friendly matches in the off-season. Regular competition is a great way of improving your game and getting ready for theΒ new season.

Promotion and relegation Q&A

Q) Will IΒ move up or down a division next season?

A) If you have found yourself winning most of your matches then it’s likely you’ll find yourself in a higher division next season. Everyone who wins their division will definitely be promoted and quite often we’ll also promote the runner up.

On the flip side, if you have struggled in your current division, we will look to move you down a division so you are playing against others of a closer ability next season.

Our aim is always to get you the closest matches possible.
