Spring season: week nine – the lowdown
The regular spring season is now complete and we’re all set for a week of grand finals!
Our player of the week award goes to Vivek Dhyani from our Adelaide Tennis League. Vivek played 2 brilliant 3 set matches, just edging them both and taking top spot in his league.
First up Vivek beat Tessa 5-7, 7-5, 6-4, he then followed this up with another victory coming from one set down, defeating Maricel 6-7, 6-4, 6-1. Great tennis Vivek!
“Tessa is very consistent, striking the middle of the racquet and hardly any 2nd serves in the entire match which was impressive. Great opponent and friendly person to play with. Would be nice to play again someday ?”
“Maricel is a competitive opponent and fun to play with (never say no attitude on court ?). Looking forward to playing more games and improving our skills.”
Match of the week
Our match of the week this week goes to 2 players who have fought some great tennis across the season, but saved the best for last. Harsh Patil taking on Vik Chan in division 1 of our Parramatta Tennis League.
Harsh came out on top in the final week of the season, winning 7-5, 5-7, 7-5 in one of our closest matches ever. The victory secured a grand final spot for Harsh who will take on Jazib Ansari for the second season in a row to be crowned the champ.
Well played Harsh, and good luck in the final!
Grand final matches
Good luck to everyone who has qualified to play in a grand final. May the best player win and don’t forget to enjoy it 🙂
Just because the regular spring season is all wrapped up, this doesn’t mean you can’t get on the court. Feel free to contact other players from your player directory to organise friendly matches in the off-season. Regular competition is a great way of improving your game and getting ready for the new season.
Promotion and relegation Q&A
Q) Will I move up or down a division next season?
A) If you have found yourself winning most of your matches then it’s likely you’ll find yourself in a higher division next season. Everyone who wins their division will definitely be promoted and quite often we’ll also promote the runner up.
On the flip side, if you have struggled in your current division, we will look to move you down a division so you are playing against others of a closer ability next season.
Our aim is always to get you the closest matches possible.
