Autumn season: week nine – the lowdown
The regular season is now complete and we’re all set for a week of grand finals!
Player of the week
Our player of the week award goes to Matt Vening from our Brisbane Tennis League. Matt has had a brilliant season, completing 7 matches before this week started, but still found himself outside of the top two placings, with Andrew and Greg both having completed a whopping 10 matches each. Matt, undeterred, took on Ali, Arnaud and Daniel, winning all three and finishing top of the group with 10 wins out of 10, an Oz Tennis Leagues record.
Good luck in the final Matt (and Greg!)!
Our match of the week this week goes to 2 players who saved their best for the very last week of the season. Mike Dobrota taking on Vinay Krishnan in division 1 of our Parramatta Tennis League.
Mike came out on top in the final week of the season, winning 6-2, 3-6, 7-6 (7-4). Mike’s victory part of his late charge, winning 4 matches in the final week, to make a grand final spot.
“What a great match! Vinay’s slice and service are very difficult to play against, giving a very unconfortable and challenging game.” Mike
Grand final matches
Good luck to everyone who has qualified to play in a grand final. May the best player win and don’t forget to enjoy it 🙂
Just because the regular autumn season is all wrapped up, this doesn’t mean you can’t get on the court. Feel free to contact other players from your player directory to organise friendly matches in the off-season. Regular competition is a great way of improving your game and getting ready for the new season.
Promotion and relegation Q&A
Q) Will I move up or down a division next season?
A) If you have found yourself winning most of your matches then it’s likely you’ll find yourself in a higher division next season. Everyone who wins their division will definitely be promoted and quite often we’ll also promote the runner up.
On the flip side, if you have struggled in your current division, we will look to move you down a division so you are playing against others of a closer ability next season.
Our aim is always to get you the closest matches possible.
